Shortly after Friday's Jumat service at the Erinmo-Ijesa Central Mosque in Oriade local government area of Osun State, Alfa Lawal Kazeem Olanipekun from the Saloro family of Erinmo was unanimously chosen as the new Chief Imam of Erinmo town.
The new Chief Imam after the official screening and approval by the Elerinmo In Council as well as Muslim community of the ancient town presented him to the Elerinmo of Erinmo-Ijesa, Oba Dr Michael Odunayo Ajayi, Arowotawaya II who was also at the Jumat service on Friday for formal ratification in accompany with the Olowena of Owena Ijesa, Oba Oladoyinbo Ayelabola.
Our Correspondent gathered that, Alfa Lawal Kazeem Olanipekun as the new Chief Imam of Erinmo town appointment was well received by all and sundry in the town without any grudge as the selection went through peaceful process.
In his acceptance speech, Alfa Olanipekun who is an inspiring preacher, humble and God fearing, appreciated the Almighty Allah, the traditional ruler of the town, the Elerinmo of Erinmo-Ijesa, the Elerinmo in Council and entire Muslim community for their love to him and for the confidence repose in him to be the new Chief Imam of the ancient town.
Alfa Olanipekun who promised not to let the people down, promised to strengthen the existing unity and progress of entire Muslims in the whole Erinmo and solicited the support of Muslims community in the town.
According to Alfa Olanipekun who was highly elated, the announcement of his appointment was unique in the history of Imamship in Erinmo as there was formal pronouncement and unanimous decision of all stakeholders in the land.
"I want the entire Muslims community to always show their love to me".
Similarly, the following Muslim leaders in the town, Yunusa Omiyale and Kodiri Omoboriowo said, "we are happy today that new Chief Imam has been announced for our town.
"We pray that, his tenure will continue to bring peace and love to the Muslim community and entire Erinmo town while we are calling on the Muslims community to demonstrate their unalloyed and unflinching support to Alfa Lawal Kazeem Olanipekun for him to succeed. We are fully happy with his appointment in all ramifications ".
Also, Alhaji Asimiyu Abiodun and Alhaji Alege while speaking with our Correspondent, said selection of the new Chief Imam for the town is a good omen and welcome decision.
"We are using this medium to appreciate all the people that have contributed to the appointment of the new Chief Imam, most especially our father, Kabiyesi of our town, the amiable Oba Arowotawaya and his Chiefs as well as the entire Muslims community, they are all wonderful people.
"In some communities, appointment of Chief Imam always mars violence but it is not like that in our town Erinmo as we are peace loving people here, we don't foment trouble and we love ourselves as well as development of our land".
Meet the new Chief Imam of Erinmo town.
Alfa Lawal Kazeem Olanipekun was born and raised in Erinmo-Ijesa, Osun State on 13th March 1988.
He attended Trust Foundation Nursery/Primary School in Erinmo-Ijesa, where he obtained the first school leaving certificate in 1999.
He continued his secondary education at Erinmo Commercial Grammar School, where he earned his West Africa School Certificate.
After the completion of his secondary education, he furthered his academic pursuits at the Osun State College of Education, (OSCOED) Ilesa between 2006-2009.
Subsequently, he gained admission to Rawdat Institute of Arabic and Islamic Studies in Olorun, Ifelodun local government area of Osun State in 2007.
His dedication to education led him to obtained a 2years course at Kwara State Legal Studies Ilorin in 2018 while his academic achievements has laid a foundation for his future endeavours in the realms of educations, Dawah (Islamic propaganda) and Social Linguistics.
The new Chief Imam of Erinmo would be officially turbaned come next Friday.
