President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged members of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) to ensure that the benefits of the Federal Government's Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiative are passed on to commuters.
Speaking to PENGASSAN members, the President said the Federal Government would continue to do more to encourage the adoption of CNG across the country.
He, however, appealed to stakeholders and vehicle owners to ensure that the savings and benefits from the use of CNG are reflected in transportation costs, so that ordinary Nigerians can also benefit from the initiative.
“With the introduction of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), well, I will appeal to you, we will do more, we will encourage you, but ask your drivers to let it trickle down to the commuters too.”
President Tinubu noted that the benefits of CNG should not be enjoyed only by truck and vehicle owners, stressing that commuters should also feel the positive impact through more affordable transportation fares.
“Because whatever benefit that is coming from CNG is going into the pocket of the truck owners,” he added.
The Federal Government has continued to promote CNG as a more affordable and cleaner alternative fuel, with the aim of reducing transportation costs and easing the economic burden on Nigerians.
