Residents of Edo State have expressed frustration over the poor condition of roads in the state, following a serious traffic gridlock captured in a video circulating on Facebook. In the video seen by GT News, motorists and commuters were seen struggling to move through the affected road as vehicles were trapped in heavy traffic. Some residents who spoke in the video openly mocked the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, accusing him of allegedly abandoning pressing infrastructure challenges in his state while travelling to Osun State to campaign for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, during the recent governorship election. The angry residents questioned why the governor was involved in campaign activities in Osun, where he was reportedly making promises about road development and shouting, “We will cover up,” while, according to them, many roads in his own state remain in bad condition. They accused the governor of failing to pay adequate attention to roads that they said have become a nightmare for motorists and other road users. The bad road, according to the residents, contributed to the serious traffic gridlock seen in the viral video, leaving commuters stranded and struggling to get to their destinations. One of the residents questioned why attention was being given to political campaigns outside Edo State when, according to him, residents were facing serious challenges caused by poor road conditions at home. The development has generated reactions on social media, with some residents calling on the Edo State Government to urgently address the affected road and other damaged roads across the state.
