Three persons reportedly died while eight others
were injured in an auto crash which occurred along Ijebu Ode-Benin-Ore
Expressway on Tuesday, involving a commercial bus and a truck.
The commercial bus with number plate AYB 836 XA, our correspondent gathered, belonged to God is Good Motors. It was travelling towards Benin with 18 passengers.
He said only seven passengers were not hurt in the accident.
The driver of the bus was said to be trying to
overtake a Mercedez Benz truck with number plate SAP 844 XA, when the
accident occurred.
The Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Traffic
Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said the incident
occurred shortly before Odogbolu junction.
He explained that speeding and reckless driving on the part of the driver of the commercial bus led to the accident.
He said, “Eighteen passengers were in the
commercial bus. But three died (two males and one female). And eight
others were injured while seven others escaped unhurt.”
He said the corpses of the victims had been
deposited in the mortuary at the State General Hospital, Ijebu Ode,
while the injured are receiving treatment in the same hospital.
