The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed the governorship primary election in Osun State to Saturday, July 21,2018.
Our Correspondent learnt in Osogbo on Monday that the party’s primary election where the gubernatorial candidate of the party will be elected was pushed forward at the instance of the National Working Committee of the party.
The NWC which is the highest decision making organ of the party had earlier fixed today, Tuesday July 17,2018 for the primary election to elect a candidate who will carry the flag of the party in the September 22,2018 governorship election in the state.
Confirming the shifting of the election to Our Correspondent in Osogbo on Monday, State Publicity Secretary of PDP, Hon. Sunday Bisi said that the primary election of the party would hold on Saturday.
He explained that the election was shifted by the National Secretariat of the party to allow more consultations with the aspirants.
Eleven aspirants have been screened and cleared by the Screening Committee headed by Rt Hon Austin Opara for the gubernatorial primary of the party in the state.
Those cleared for the election include Senator Akinlabi Abdulrasheed, Alhaji Fatai Akinade Akinbade, Senator Felix Ogunwale, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, Mr Nathaniel Oke (SAN) and Dr Ayoade Adewopo.
The rest are Professor Adeolu Durotoye, Dr Kamorudeen Olalere Oyewumi, Rt Hon Rafiu Adejare Bello, Dr Ezekiel Adeniji and Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke.
