The Governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, has resigned as the Chairman of the governorship primaries for the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Osun State, reports reaching us is indicating.

Yari resigned a few hours to the conduct of the primaries scheduled for Friday (today).

According to the information from Television Continental (TVC), Yari is to be replaced by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

Seventeen aspirants are seeking the ticket of the party to replace the incumbent, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

Omo-Agege is an ally of President Muhammadu Buhari.

He is the arrowhead of the senators loyal to the President in the Senate.

He was fingered in the recent invasion of the Senate and snatching of the mace.

He was recommended for suspension by the House of Representatives for 180 days over the incident.

The parties in Osun State have up till Monday to submit the names of their candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the election holding on the 22nd of November, 2018.

There is also crisis in the Social Democratic Party (SDP) over the choice of candidate for the election.
There is contention for the ticket by Iyiola Omisore and Munirudeen Atanda.
