A group, Concerned Osun Progressives has called for the zoning of the Chief of Staff or Secretary to the State Government to Ife zone in the interest of justice and fairplay.
The group said for the progressive party to make headway in the coming elections, adequate consideration must be given to Ife zone in the appointment of the two positions.
In a statement on Friday sent to GTNews, the group said, "Osun East senatorial district divided into two zones. Ife zone has 42 wards with 4 Local Govt and Modakeke ife area office and Ijesha has 64 wards of 6 Local Govt
"Since creation of Osun State in 1991 August 27, Osun east always share power between position of Deputy Governor and Senate until recent time that Ijesha produced Governor and Ife still maintain Senate.
"The political calculations with voting strength and what require in recent time is that the senatorial seat should go to Ijesha why Ife zone will produce highest ranking political office, zoned to the district.
"Assuming without conceeding, Ijesha will produce the next speaker of the house and the senator of the federal republic of Nigeria by God grace and Ife zone will be left alone with nothing. For the party to have votes or clinch the position of senate, we must let go either chief of staff or Secretary to the state govt to Ife zone .
"In 2015 election, Osun East lost 2 federal house slots to opposition narrowly while our great party won the senate seat with less 2,000 votes also which implies to us that we must not joke or leave any stone unturn.
"For Hon Ajibola Famurewa to win, we need ife zone and for Hon Bamisaye also to win we need ife.
"Ife voting strength is more than entire Ijesha votes according to PVC collected. We must determine either we are winning next election in Osun east or not. This decision is going to determine where we are going.
"Ife zone has vibrant element that can man this position, and they include, Olajide Maroof Sadeeq, Moses Olafare, Sikiru Ayedun, Rotimi Makinde, Fatai kolawole, Segun omoworare, Com Biyi Odunlade, Sen Jide Omoworare, Nike Omoworare.
"With these names, the party should chose a preferable and loyal party man without any dent".
