Executive Secretary of Osun state Social Health Insurance Agency, Adeniyi Oginni has said the State Social Health Insurance Scheme would protect residents of the state from the financial hardship of huge medical bills, while maintaining high standard of care delivery.
He spoke while addressing a press conference at the launch of the scheme recently at the agency's office.
Ogini added that ,"under the scheme the poor vulnerable, pregnant, children under five and 65 years and above would access the care they needed at no cost through grant to be contributed by the state and local governments to the health scheme in addition to the Basic Health Care Provision fund from the Federal government. "
He added civil servants enrolled, their spouses and four biological or legally adopted children under 18 would have access to the services at any health facility of their choice among those accredited by the agency.
To enjoy same benefits as their counterparts in the public service, Ogini said private employees would contribute 1.5% of their basic salary while their employers would add 3% as monthly premium to the agency or enroll for the individual plan.
He, however explained that the state government has approved the release of N150M as the take-off grant for the agency, establishment of business and zonal offices, employ ad-hoc staff, procure vehicles among others.
