The recent appointment of chairmen, secretaries, members and Community Relations Officers (CROs) for the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) in all the Local Government Areas of the State has been hailed as timely and a step in the right direction.

This is contained in a statement signed by Osun Commissioner for Finance, Mr Bola Oyebamiji and made available to newsmen in Osogbo on Sunday.

The commissioner said the appointment of the officers whose job is to ensure the delivery of quality education right from the local government level is very timely and a step in the right direction.

Oyebamiji explained that basic education needs to be taken very serious right from the local government level which is why the state government of Osun is not leaving any stone unturned in a bid to put things right.

The statement reads in part, "As I congratulate all officers appointed to see to the affairs of education from the local government level, I want to also commend Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for this laudable step which is timely and in the right direction.

"The appointment of the Chairman and other officers for Local Government Education Authorities will go a long way in assisting to reposition our education sector in Osun.

"If we can get it right from the local government level we will all be better for it, the role of the local government education authorities can not be overemphasized, with adequate supervision and monitoring at that level the standard of education is bound to improve.

"As I congratulate all the new appointees once more, I urge them put in their complete dedication and work towards improving the standard of education in our dear state". Oyebamiji stated.
