A traditionalist, the Balogun Isegun of Ikoyi and Apomu Communities in Isokan Local Government area of Osun State, Chief Teslim Raji, a.k.a. Akerele on Saturday lauded the South West governors’ initiative of launching the “Operation Amotekun” to curb security challenges in the region.

Akerele, made this know while answering questions from newsmen during a community meeting at Ikoyi. 

The Balogun described the activities of the local security outfit in Osun State as a condition of round peg in a round hole saying, they have done well towards safety of life and property since the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, known as Covid 19.

Akerele who used the medium to congratulates the pioneer Director General of Amotekun in the state, Chief Amitolu Shitu on his appointment enjoined him not to be distracted adding that, he should rather continue with his good plan towards the upliftment of the security outfit. 

The traditionalist urged the entire residents of the state to demonstrate their complete support to the security outfit in order to achieve its purpose saying, Amotekun cannot do it alone as residents must work with them to detect suspected criminals in their various communities. 

Akerele commended the activities of the Nigeria Hunters Group of Nigeria, Osun State Command (HGN. ODETODE) under the leadership of Chief Hameed Nureni Soladoye as their contribution to the success of the Amotekun group in the state cannot be over emphasised.

The Balogun of Isegun admonished the people of the state to be law abiding and be in support of the government of the day.

Akerele however called on Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the state, philanthropists and entire people to rally round the needed support and cooperation to the Amotekun group for them to succeed in their security job.

 It would be recalled that the governors in the South West region had on January 9 this year launched the security outfit in Ibadan, Oyo State to provide adequate security for the citizenry.
