A call has gone to Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government in the State of Osun to ensure that the various interventions from development partners are made to impact the lives of the masses for which it was intended for.
Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Prof. Olalekan Yinusa made the call on Wednesday during the Inter-minsterial Committee meeting on development partners' intervention in the State of Osun.
Prof. Yinusa who charged technocrats to be at their best in the service to the people said the determination of the Adegboyega Oyetola administration is to positively impact the lives of the masses of people who voted for him at the polls.
The University don who stressed on the need to concretely measure the outcome of the interventions as it relates to the Medium Term Sector Strategy(MTSS) as well as the State of Osun Development Plan (2019 - 2028) explained that government does not just want to spend but to see the impact on the lives of the people.
While appealing to stakeholders in the various sectors to ensure that all the support that comes to the state are used for the purpose for which they are intended for, the Commissioner harped on the need for transparency and accountability so as to continue to earn the trust of the donors.
He called on heads of all government agencies to encourage and make use of the Planning, Research and Statistics officers in their agencies so as to achieve the desired goals in the area of measuring the impact of what government is doing for the people.
According to the Commissioner, "We really need to know the extent to which our development partners are supporting us, we need accurate data and figures and we need to be factual about it.
"It is also very important for us to let the citizens have value for the support which we are getting, we want to see the direct impact on the people of Osun for whom these interventions are made. We must begin to measure the impact of what we do.
"These information will also be used to monitor and measure our budget performance at the end of the year, it will help us to know our achievements and our constraints. So, we want documentary evidence of the impact so that we can concretely measure the outcome as it relates to our MTSS and the state development plan.
"I know some of our agencies are not used to impact assessment or measurement, I think the time has come for all agencies of government to begin to measure the impact of their efforts on the citizenry because it is for them that government is in place". He stated.
Also present at the meeting were: the Special Adviser to the Governor on Economic Planning and Budget, Hon. Aderemi Kolajo, Coordinating Director, Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, Mr Kunle Akinola among others.
