As this year Christmas and New Year draws nearer, the Osun Waste Management Agency, OWMA, has called on the people of the state to shun indiscriminate refuse dump describing it as illegal.
The General Manager of the Agency, Sanitarian Fatai Oladosu Oyewole made this call on Tuesday in a Press Statement issued and made available to newsmen in Osogbo the Osun State capital.
Sanitarian Oyewole in the statement said, people should always patronise registered refuse contractor allocated to their respective areas.
According to OWMA boss, "our people should also be careful with fire and take security as a joint venture while they should also stop burning of refuse within houses and inside drainage.
" You should always take appropriate care of your environment and take personal hygiene as priority to curb the spread of diseases especially covid 19".
Sanitarian Oyewole added further that, "let's embrace good environmental practices by stopping indiscriminate refuse dump in an unapproved site, patronize assigned contractor for refuse collection at a fee and clear all drains and river courses to prevent flooding.
" Our amiable Governor Gboyega Oyetola is doing everything possible in creating a conducive environment for the entire citizens of the state while am using this medium to appreciate the governor for his unalloyed support to the OWMA in all ramifications ".
The OWMA GM however called on the Baba lojas and Iya lojas to ensure that their market places were tidy before, during and after the festive period in order to avert epidemic diseases in the state.
