The UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo has commissioned its newly built ultra modern Accident and Emergency extension building.
Commissioning the newly constructed building at the UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Rafiu Isamotu commended the management of the hospital has achieved well in health delivery.
In his welcome address, the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Peter Babatunde Olaitan, appreciated God for what he has done for the hospital through the Governor by providing unrelenting assistance towards the construction of the New Accident and Emergency Extension building, Prof. Olaitan also made it known that the old Accident and Emergency building was built around year 2000 which is very small and this made the hospital to be referring patients to other neighboring tertiary hospitals on several occasions.
Prof. Olaitan said this made the Management of the hospital to think of constructing another building that will be equipped with the state of the Art equipments in addition to what the hospital had in order to give the best to the society.
He implored the Government to assist in providing other equipment for the hospital like CT Scan, MRI etc.
Prof. Olaitan also acknowledged all the support the hospital has received from the Ministry of Health under the leadership of Dr. Rafiu Isamotu and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health, Pharmacist Siji Olamiju.
He appreciated their Team on the way they professionally managed and curb the spread of Covid-19 in which he explained has reduced the cases of mobility and mortality to about 2% compare to other states.
He prayed that God Almighty will continue to keep them.
Those present at the occasion were members of the Management Committee of the hospital, a Medical elder, Dr. Simeon Afolayan, Arch. Lekan Usman, officials from Osun State Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS) and other dignitaries.
