The bill seeking a speedy dispensation of justice and decongestion of litigations titled Osun State Multi Door Court House Establishment bill,2023 has successfully passed through the second reading stage after an extensive debate.
According to the bill Honourable Femi Poopola while presenting the policy thrust identified that Multi-door Court House Establishment Bill,2023 benefits would when passed into law would ensure faster resolution of disputes,reduce costs compared to traditional litigation,confidentiality, flexibility in the resolution process and the opportunity for parties to maintain control over the outcome of their dispute.
The member representing Boripe/ Boluwaro State Constituency held that the bill will also enhance and provide access to justice by providing alternative mechanisms to supplement litigation in the resolution of disputes just as Osun State Mutil Door Court House Establishment Bill,2023 will minimize citizen's frustration and delays in Justice delivery by providing legal framework for the fair and efficient settlement of disputes through Alternative Dispute Resolution ADR.
The former Deputy speaker added that the bill will equally serve as focal point for promotion of Alternative Dispute Resolution, ADR in Osun State and would promote the growth and effective functioning of the Justice system through Alternative Dispute Resolution methods. It will also aid Osun High Court to put mechanism in place, while canvassing his colleagues to support the bill to move the state forward.
Alluding to the benefits in the bill under consideration Hon Taofeek Olayiwola representing Ede South State Constituency, Hon Tajudeen Adeyemi representing Ifelodun State Constituency,Hon Babajide Kofoworola representing Ede North State Constituency, Hon Afeez Ibrahim representing Olaoluwa State Constituency, Hon Adewumi Adeyemi representing Obokun State Constituency, Hon Lawrence Adeoti representing Ife South State Constituency,Hon Olawale Akerele representing Ilesa West State Constituency and Hon Abiola Awoyeye representing Ife Central State Constituency mentioned other advantages of the Bill which includes, accelerated dispensation of Justice, allows experts who are not lawyers to be involved in the administration of Justice,building conseus between both the litigants and defenders and also decongest the court and allow peace to reign in the state.
They unanimously stressed that it's a win-win situation, saying, the Bill came at the right time, urging urgent passage of the Bill.
Having listened to various contributions and submissions from the lawmakers,
the Speaker, Rt Hon Adewale Egbedun aligned himself with their views and the Bill passed through second reading.
