The Osun State Government has commenced the distribution of relief materials to 5,000 residents affected by flood and fire incidents across the three senatorial districts of the state.
The distribution program was held at the premises of the Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA) in Osogbo.
Representing the governor at the event, the Special Adviser on Emergency Management, Hon. Emiola Fakeye, highlighted that the relief items include both food and non-food materials such as rice, beans, gari, cement, roofing sheets, and nails.
Hon. Fakeye expressed gratitude to Governor Adeleke for his proactive approach and support for the agency and the people of Osun.
In his goodwill message, Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Hon. Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, emphasized the importance of government's interventions in mitigating the suffering of citizens. He also encouraged beneficiaries to defend the government against critics, reminding them of the positive impact of the present administration
Similarly, the Chairman of SUBEB, Hon. Ibukun Fadipe, appreciated Governor Adeleke for providing the relief materials as he prayed that such disasters would not occur again.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the General Manager of OSEMA, Mr. Abiola Oni, acknowledged the governor’s dedication to easing the burdens of those affected by disasters. He urged residents to take precautionary measures, especially during the dry season, by avoiding bush burning and ensuring electrical appliances are switched off when not in use.
One of the beneficiaries, High Chief Sunday Onimole Arapate from Ijebu-Jesa, expressed gratitude to the Governor for his compassionate gesture and prayed for his success in the next election.
The event concluded with the symbolic distribution of relief materials to the beneficiaries.
