Nigerian music star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has appealed to United States President Donald Trump and the international community to closely monitor the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.
Davido, in a statement shared on his X (formerly Twitter) page on Monday, expressed concern over what he described as growing tension surrounding the election, warning against any situation that could lead to violence, intimidation or disruption of the democratic process.
The singer stressed that residents of Osun State should be allowed to exercise their constitutional right to vote freely and peacefully without fear.
He specifically called on the United States, international observers and relevant Nigerian authorities to pay close attention to the electoral process, particularly issues concerning voter safety, transparency and the credibility of the final results.
“We do not want bloodshed. We do not want intimidation. We want peace, transparency, and a free and fair election,” Davido said.
His intervention has added a prominent voice from Nigeria's entertainment industry to the growing calls for a peaceful and credible election in Osun.
The appeal comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship poll, with stakeholders urging political parties and their supporters to avoid actions capable of threatening peace and stability.
Davido has previously spoken publicly on civic participation and issues affecting young Nigerians, making his latest appeal another intervention linking the entertainment industry with the country's political and democratic affairs.
