The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has debunked a viral publication alleging that some young people living around the Nyanya area have sold their kidneys for money.
The Command also dismissed claims that an agent in Mararaba was allegedly purchasing human kidneys.
In a statement issued by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, on Wednesday, the Command said it had neither received nor confirmed any report relating to the alleged kidney sales.
According to the Police, no statement or official communication emanating from the Command had confirmed the claims currently circulating on social media.
The Command therefore urged members of the public to disregard the publication and avoid spreading unverified information capable of creating unnecessary fear, panic and apprehension among residents.
However, the Police encouraged anyone with credible information concerning alleged human organ trafficking or any other security concern within the FCT to report promptly to the nearest police station.
Residents can also contact the FCT Police Command through 07038979348 or 08028940883.
The statement was signed by SP Josephine Adeh, ANIPR, MIPRA, Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Police Command, Abuja.
