The Nigerian Army has arrested two serving soldiers following their alleged involvement in providing unauthorised security at the lavish wedding of popular TikTok personalities Peller and Jarvis in Lekki, Lagos.
The development comes after videos from the high-profile ceremony went viral on social media, showing uniformed military personnel escorting guests and controlling access to parts of the event. The clips sparked widespread reactions, with many Nigerians questioning why serving soldiers were reportedly performing security duties at a private celebrity gathering.
According to military sources, the arrested personnel are Private Onasanya Ifeoluwa (Service No. 23NA/85/10007) and Private Ukpai Onyinyechi (Service No. 23NA/85/7885), both attached to the 81 Division Medical Services and Hospital (81DMSH) in Obalende, Lagos.
The soldiers were reportedly taken into custody on Tuesday after military authorities received credible intelligence alleging their participation in an unauthorised deployment during the wedding.
A military source disclosed that preliminary investigations are underway to determine the extent of their involvement and to identify any other personnel who may have participated in the incident.
One of the videos that generated the most attention allegedly showed a soldier acting as a bouncer while escorting TikTok personality Ivanna through the crowded venue, further fueling public debate over the use of military personnel at private social events.
The wedding of Peller and Jarvis attracted celebrities, influencers, entertainers and hundreds of guests, making it one of the most talked-about social events of the weekend. However, the celebration quickly became the subject of controversy after the viral footage surfaced online.
The Nigerian Army has consistently maintained that serving personnel are not permitted to undertake private security duties or participate in deployments without proper authorisation. Authorities say further details will be made available as investigations continue.
